Booing Kohli is a national disgrace

The Sydney Cricket Ground authorities must do something about the despicable treatment of India captain Virat Kohli by sections of the crowd during the Fourth Test against Australia.

It beggars belief that spectators, who have forked out a week’s wages for a ticket and a dozen beers, somehow believe they have a right to voice their feelings for the most hated member of the touring cricket team. It is behaviour for which we should unite as a nation in outrage.

And that outrage needs to be met with serious consequences for those found guilty of of this national disgrace.

Anyone caught booing Kohli during the rest of this Test must be forced to remain seated for the entire duration and at its conclusion should be further punished. If not heavily fined or jailed, they should be made to perform community service, including spending time with one or more of the Marsh brothers.

The act of booing is appalling in itself, but it is only a matter of time before mainstream media link this behaviour to racism. Clearly Kohli is Indian and there can be very little doubt that the people booing him are in fact not Indian. Once again the racist underbelly of Australia will be exposed, staining our national identity further.

Kohli or King Kohli as he is best described, went to great lengths to throw his support behind the McGrath Foundation’s traditional Pink Test. His bat sticker and the trimming on his pads and gloves were all pink in a gesture which only adds to the outrage felt by many over his treatment by sections of the crowd.

If you can’t rise to your feet and roundly applaud this champion of the game at every opportunity, you need to join the majority of Australian cricket fans and stay away.

Save your booing for Santa Claus you miserable excuses for human beings!
